Diagnose, say honestly whether repair is worth it, and recover your data before anything else.

The first question about failed hardware is not "can it be repaired" but "should it be". A five-year-old machine whose board has to be imported costs more to bring back into service than to replace, and saying so straight away saves you as much money as time.

So we start with a diagnosis and a frank answer: repairable here, repairable but not worth it, or beyond repair. A supplier who promises to repair everything brought in mainly bills for the time spent trying.

Before any intervention, we deal with the data. A disk showing signs of failure has to be copied before anything is attempted on it, because a repair attempt can render it permanently unreadable. It is the step that haste removes most often.

Why a failure costs more here

Supply lead time is the dominant factor. A locally available part is changed the same day; the same part imported takes weeks and turns an incident into a stoppage. That is why we advise keeping a spare device rather than relying on a supplier’s speed.

Power explains a large share of the failures we see. Repeated outages, brief drops and surges damage power supplies and corrupt disks. A properly sized UPS costs less than one repair and prevents the next ones.

Heat and dust are the third factor, and widely underestimated. A machine placed on the floor in a poorly ventilated room accumulates dust and overheats, which shortens its life by years. Moving and cleaning it costs less than a component.
