Online advertising
YouTube advertising
The explaining channel: for when your product has to be understood before it can be bought, and you have something to film.
YouTube does not do the same job as the other channels. It is neither intent interception like search, nor fast scrolling like social: it is a place where somebody agrees to watch for several minutes. That makes it useful for anything that has to be explained or demonstrated.
Three cases justify it. A product whose value does not show in a photograph. A service whose worth lies in the method. Or a brand that needs to be known before it is searched for. In every other case the money does better elsewhere, and we will say so.
The constraint is production. An advertising video is not a corporate video: it has to say the essential thing in the first five seconds, because that is what most people will see. A three-minute corporate film run as an ad spends on people who leave before the message.
YouTube shares Google’s targeting and measurement. The campaign runs from the same tools, which lets you retarget the people who watched afterwards — often the best use of the channel.
What we usually find
- You have a corporate video nobody watches.
- Your product is understood through demonstration, and your photographs show nothing.
- You are known to your customers and invisible to everyone else.
- You pay for views without knowing what they produce.
What changes
A product that is understood
A demonstration of a few dozen seconds does the job ten images cannot manage.
An audience to retarget
People who watched a meaningful share become a qualified audience, reusable on the other channels.
Measurable awareness
The rise in searches for your name gives a concrete signal, instead of "we need to be visible".
What you get
Suitable formats
Skippable video, non-skippable formats and vertical video — treated differently, not cropped from one file.
The first five seconds worked on
The essential message before the skip button, because that is what most people will see.
Topic and audience targeting
The content your customers watch, and audiences built from your visitors and your customers.
Viewer retargeting
Those who watched are targeted afterwards on the other channels, at a markedly lower cost.
Production or adaptation
Filming and editing, or adapting existing video into an advertising format.
Measurement beyond views
Views, yes, but above all what they produce next: visits, searches for your name, enquiries.
How we work
Check it is the right channel
We look at whether your product genuinely gains from being seen in motion. Often the answer is no.
Script and format
The essential message placed at the start, with duration chosen from the format rather than the reverse.
Production
Filming and editing, or re-cutting what you already have when the material exists.
Targeted delivery
Tight audiences first, broadening only on what produces genuine attention.
Using the audience
Viewers become a retargeting audience on other channels, which is often the real return.
Is this the right fit for you?
This is for you if
- Your product or service needs explaining or demonstrating.
- You have something to film, or a realistic production budget.
- You want to be known before you are searched for, and accept measuring that indirectly.
This is not for you if
- You want immediate enquiries on a tight budget. Search or social will do better.
- You have no video and no production budget. The campaign will have nothing to run.
- You plan to run an existing three-minute corporate film. That is not an advertisement.
What we commit to
We do not bill views as a result
A view is a cost, not a return. The report covers what the views produce afterwards.
The videos are yours
Footage, edits and source files belong to you and can be reused anywhere else.
We will tell you when this is not the channel
For many businesses this budget returns more elsewhere, and saying so is part of the job.
How does YouTube work in Algeria?
Video consumption is high, but often on metered connections. A video that is heavy, long, or whose message only arrives at the end gets cut before it has done anything — and the cost is already paid.
The language used matters more than production quality. A video shot simply in the language your customers actually speak convinces better than a polished production in a register that does not sound like them.
Finally, advertising competition here is low compared with social platforms, which makes attention cheaper. That is the channel’s main argument for a brand starting to become known, and it will not last indefinitely.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need professional production?
Not necessarily. A clear demonstration filmed on a phone with good sound often works better than a polished production that shows nothing. Sound matters more than picture.
How long should an ad be?
The essential message has to fit in the first seconds whatever the total length. Beyond that, duration depends on what you have to demonstrate, not on a rule.
Are views a good indicator?
Not on their own. A view costs money; what matters is what happens next. We measure visits, searches for your name, and enquiries.
Can an existing video be reused?
Often yes, re-cut. A corporate film sometimes contains forty usable seconds, provided they are moved to the beginning.
YouTube or Facebook for video?
Facebook for short attention and products that can be seen; YouTube for what needs understanding. They are two different uses, not two versions of the same one.
How long before judging it?
Longer than on the other channels, because the effect is partly indirect. We set what we will look at before starting, to avoid judging on views.

We come back with a frank answer on whether this is the right channel, what is reusable, what would need filming, and how we would measure the result.
What we have written on this subject
YouTube ads: the first five seconds are the product
This is the only platform where you are heard, and the only one where you buy time. The skip is not a failure, it is a deadline. The video that answers a question still earns in two years
The platform is also a search engine. It is the one surface in this pillar where work done once keeps working.
