Online advertising

X (Twitter) ads

The smallest Algerian audience of our nine platforms, and the most concentrated: commentary, news and professional circles.

X is the platform we recommend least often, and we would rather say so beforehand than afterwards. Its Algerian audience is markedly smaller than Facebook’s, Instagram’s or TikTok’s, and a budget that produces enquiries elsewhere may produce none at all here.

What it does have is concentration. The people using it in Algeria are heavily over-represented in commentary, news, technology and the structured professional sector. For an audience of that kind, the platform reaches people the other channels struggle to touch.

Costs are generally lower than on the major platforms, precisely because local advertising competition is thin. That is a real advantage, provided a low cost per click is not mistaken for cheap acquisition: a cheap click on too small an audience is still a click that does not fill an order book.

We therefore treat it as a supporting channel and almost never as a principal one. It is also the channel where watching what is being said matters most: a business is discussed publicly here, and a campaign launched without listening to what is already being said can amplify exactly the wrong thing.

What we usually find

  • You want to reach an informed audience that ignores conventional advertising.
  • Your sector is discussed publicly and you have no presence there at all.
  • Your campaigns on the big platforms have hit their ceiling and you are looking elsewhere.
  • You sell a technical product the general public does not understand.

What changes

  • A generally low cost per click

Few local advertisers, so an auction less contested than on the larger platforms.

  • An audience hard to reach elsewhere

Professional, technical and media circles, little inclined to respond to conventional ad formats.

  • A quick decision

The volume is small, so the verdict arrives fast: three weeks is enough to know whether it produces.

What you get

  • Audience estimate before budget

How many people are genuinely reachable on your target in Algeria, before committing to anything.

  • Targeting by interest and by account

Followers of specific accounts, followed topics and keywords, rather than a broad demographic slice.

  • Formats that suit the feed

A message that reads like a post rather than a poster, without which it is simply scrolled past.

  • Listening before launch

What is already being said about your brand and sector, because a campaign can amplify an existing problem.

  • Retargeting site visitors

People who have already been to your site, at a cost far below cold acquisition.

  • A written stopping rule

A threshold agreed before launch, because persistence on a small audience costs more than it returns.

How we work

  1. Check the audience size

If the reachable target in Algeria is too small, we tell you and we go no further.

  2. Listen before speaking

A record of what is said about your brand and your competitors, which shapes the message as much as the targeting.

  3. Capped test

One target, two messages, a limited budget, measured on enquiries rather than impressions.

  4. Decide

Extend if the cost per enquiry stands comparison with your other channels; stop if it does not.

Is this the right fit for you?

This is for you if

  • Your customers are technical, professional, or connected to news and media.
  • Your other channels already work and you are looking for a complement.
  • You accept small volume in exchange for a precise audience.

This is not for you if

  • You sell to the local general public. The audience is too small for your market.
  • This is your first paid channel. Start where your customers actually are.
  • You want volume. This platform does not have it in Algeria at that scale.

What we commit to

  • We will tell you when it is the wrong channel

This is the platform we advise against most often, and that advice costs us managed budget.

  • Audience size is given in advance

You know how many people are reachable on your target before approving any budget.

  • The account stays yours

Created under your ownership with your access. History and audiences do not leave with the agency.

Who actually uses X in Algeria

Algerian use of the platform is real but narrow, and it looks nothing like Facebook’s. You find journalists, people working in technology, managers, community activists, and a slice of the public that follows the news closely. That is not the general population, and a campaign designed for the general population fails here.

The practical consequence is that the usual question has to be inverted. Elsewhere you ask how many people you can reach; here you have to ask whether the people you want are present at all. To sell a technical service or address an identified professional circle, the answer is sometimes yes; for a retail business it is almost always no.

It is finally the channel where public conversation counts for most. Criticism aimed at a company becomes visible and can travel, which makes monitoring and replying more important than the advertising itself. Many Algerian businesses would gain more here from listening and answering than from buying impressions.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Algerian audience big enough for a campaign?

It depends entirely on who you are looking for. For a technical, professional or media-adjacent audience, often yes, at small volume. For a local shop or a mass-market product, almost never. We estimate the reachable audience on your specific target before proposing a budget, and we frequently conclude in the negative.

Is it cheaper than Facebook?

Per click, generally yes, because few local advertisers are competing for the space. But the cost that matters is per enquiry, not per click. On a narrow audience a cheap click can produce a higher cost per enquiry than a dearer, larger platform.

Do we need an active account before advertising?

Strongly preferable. An advertisement pointing at an empty account, or one abandoned two years ago, works against the message, because the first thing an interested reader does is look at who is speaking. On this platform more than any other, organic presence and advertising are judged together.

What do we do about negative comments under an ad?

Read them, answer where there is something to say, and do not hide them without reason. A calm reply beneath public criticism often persuades more than the advertisement does. That is also the work of online reputation management, which goes hand in hand with this channel.

How long before we know whether it works?

Less time than elsewhere, because the volume is small. Three weeks on a capped budget is usually enough to see whether enquiries arrive. That is the one advantage of small scale: the bad news comes quickly and cheaply.

Can we target a competitor’s followers?

You can aim at audiences resembling the accounts of a given sector, which is not quite the same thing and gives variable results. It is useful targeting for discovering an audience, not a guarantee of reaching your particular competitor’s customers.

How to start

Tell us precisely who you want to reach and we will estimate the audience genuinely available in Algeria on that target.

If it is too small to justify a budget we will say so, and point you at the channel where your customers actually are.
