Calculator: what an assistant costs, with your own figures
This page contains no prices. You enter your volumes and your supplier’s public rates, and it does the arithmetic in dinars.
A written or voice assistant is billed by usage, in a foreign currency, through a bank domiciliation and a tax. The monthly total is therefore not a price displayed somewhere: it is a calculation, and it depends on six or seven numbers only you know.
The fields below are empty on purpose. A pre-filled rate would be a price published by us, stale within a quarter, and it would have you reasoning about ours rather than about yours.
Your volume
On our own customer-service integrations an exchange runs between 400 and 900 received tokens. Measure yours if you can.
The model, billed abroad
Take the price from the supplier’s public page, and note the date you read it.
The rate your domiciliation actually went through at, in dinars for one unit of the currency.
5 % is the rate in article 123 of the 2025 finance act on transferable royalties. Put 0 if your bank does not apply it to this contract.
Voice agent, if you have one
Telephony is billed here, in dinars: it is neither converted nor taxed on import, and it is the commonest error in an estimate done by hand.
The comparison
What that gives
Fill in at least the number of conversations, the exchanges per conversation and your rate: this page offers no price of its own.
Where each figure comes from
The volumes come from you: the number of conversations in an ordinary month, and the number of exchanges a conversation actually takes. If you do not have them, count a week by hand and multiply; that is more reliable than an estimate from memory, which almost always errs low.
The model prices come from your supplier’s public page, and the date you read them has to be noted. They change, up and down, and a calculation whose date is unknown cannot be redone.
The exchange rate is not the one a financial site displays: it is the rate your domiciliation actually went through at, the one your bank charged you. That is the difference between an accurate calculation and an optimistic one, and the full payment route is described elsewhere.
Tokens per exchange are the one technical quantity on the list. The figure beside the field is what we observe on our own customer-service integrations; if you can measure yours, your number is worth more than ours.
What is billed abroad, and what is billed here
The most useful separation on this page is that one, and it is the commonest error in an estimate done on the corner of a table. The model, speech-to-text and text-to-speech are billed abroad, in the supplier’s currency. Telephony is billed here, in dinars, by an Algerian operator.
The consequence is not cosmetic: only the first half goes through the conversion and the domiciliation tax. Adding the two before converting inflates the total, and the gap grows exactly as call volume rises.
The tax is set to 5 % by default, which is the rate in article 123 of the 2025 finance act on transferable royalties. The field is editable because a bank may treat your contract differently, and because you may not be in that case at all.
This paragraph describes the state of a regulation at the date of publication and does not replace professional advice. What the page does is arithmetic; what it does not do is characterise your contract.
What the total does not include
The number you get is a usage cost. It does not contain go-live: gathering your messages, writing the rules, the refusal list, the trials. That work is counted in days and it comes before the first dinar of usage.
Nor does it contain upkeep, which is the line nobody costs and which decides the system’s lifespan. An assistant whose unanswered questions nobody rereads degrades within months, and what darija adds to the work gives an order of magnitude for what that rereading takes.
It does not contain the person who answers when the system refuses to. That refusal is the feature rather than a fault, and the queue of exceptions it produces is human work that stays human work.
Finally it contains nothing of what happens if you change supplier. It is a zero-dinar line today and a real one the day a price doubles: it is paid in days of rewriting, not in subscription.
The threshold, and why it is not a verdict
The last field asks for the monthly cost of the person doing today what you are thinking of automating. The ratio between the two numbers is the only comparison a management cares about, and it is also the one most badly read.
A total at ten per cent of a salary does not mean ninety per cent is saved. It means the repetitive part costs ten per cent, and that the rest of the post — deciding, arbitrating, reassuring, handling the exception — has not moved.
The honest reading is the opposite of the one you will be offered: if the ratio is already unfavourable, the answer is clear and there is nothing to buy. If it is favourable, it says nothing about the quality of the service delivered, and that is the question that decides.
The ratio is shown because you would calculate it anyway, and it is shown without commentary because a sentence from us at that point would be selling.
Redoing the calculation in three months
A calculation of this kind has a short life. Supplier prices move, the rate your domiciliation goes through moves, and your volumes move faster than either.
So note three things beside your result: the date, the price per million tokens you used, and the rate. Those three values are enough to redo the calculation later and to know which of the three changed, which a total on its own never says.
The page keeps nothing: it records none of your figures, neither in your browser nor with us. That is a decision rather than a technical limit — a tool that keeps something has to declare it in our cookie policy, and this one has nothing to declare.
If you want to compare two hypotheses, open the page twice. It is less elegant than a "save" button and it spares you finding, six months later, a scenario nobody knows the assumptions of.
What we do with this figure, and what we refuse to do with it
We use this calculation at the start of a conversation, to know whether the subject is worth pursuing. When the total is trivial against the go-live work, we say so; when it is of the same order as the person it was meant to relieve, we say that too.
We refuse to turn it into a quotation. The result concerns the usage of a system that does not yet exist, with estimated volumes and moving prices: presenting it as a commitment would give an order of magnitude the appearance of a contract.
We also refuse to pre-fill this page with "market average" rates. An average of foreign prices converted at a rate you will not obtain describes a situation that is nobody’s, and it is exactly the kind of figure the rest of this site refuses to publish.
What you can do without us is the substance: count a week of conversations, take two prices from a public page, and ask your bank for the rate actually applied. The calculation after that is a multiplication — and what we do with the result is another conversation.
Frequently asked questions
Why is no price pre-filled?
Because a pre-filled rate is a price we publish, with the same defects as a price in an article: it ages with nobody rereading it, and it would have you reasoning about our assumptions rather than yours. The page’s two defaults are not prices — a legal tax rate and a technical observation.
Which exchange rate should be entered?
The one your domiciliation actually went through at, as your bank charged you, in dinars for one unit of the supplier’s currency. A rate taken from a financial site will give a more flattering total than your bank statement.
Does the calculation work for a voice agent as well as a chatbot?
Yes, and that is why the voice block is separate. A written assistant uses only the model part; a voice agent adds transcription and synthesis, billed in currency, and telephony, billed in dinars. Leave the block empty if you only do written.
Are my figures stored anywhere?
No, nowhere. Nothing is sent, nothing is kept in your browser, and reloading the page clears everything. That is also why this page adds no line to our cookie policy.
Can the result serve as a budget?
As an order of magnitude, yes; as a budget, no. It is missing go-live, upkeep and the human time that remains, and those three lines are often heavier than usage itself in the first year.
