El Kantara Hardware: a shop’s search seen from both sides of the counter
An invented hardware shop in Constantine and its search box, seen from the side of the customer typing a misspelt word or Darja, and from the side of the shop learning what they wanted.

The catalogue, the stock and the three months of searches that found nothing are invented. The normalisation, the ranking and the refusal to recommend on a history that is too thin are the real code.
El Kantara Hardware is a shop that does not exist. We invented it in Constantine to show what an Algerian business can have behind its search box: an engine that understands the way its customers really write, and a journal that tells the shop what they searched for and did not find.
The screenshots below come from the demonstration itself and are retaken automatically after every change. The catalogue, prices, stock and searches are invented; nothing is sold, nothing is paid for, and no information about you is recorded.

Run an example search
Click the example search written in Darja, or the one with a typing mistake, and compare the column without an engine with the engine’s column.
Read what the engine understood
Beside the results, each word of the query shows the route that linked it to the catalogue and what the shop has just learned.
Change the wilaya
Choose a distant wilaya and watch the delivery times change and the undeliverable articles move to the end of the list.
Scroll down to the journal and the suggestions
Look through the four families of searches with no result, then move the slider until the suggestions fall silent.
Frequently asked questions
Is El Kantara Hardware a real shop?
No. The shop, its brand, its catalogue, its stock and its searches are invented for the demonstration. Constantine and the wilayas it serves are real, and the typos are ones really met.
Can I order or pay for anything?
You can fill a list and see its total, but nothing is charged and nothing is shipped. The shop says so itself at the foot of the list.
Does the engine use artificial intelligence?
Only when nothing else works. Most searches are resolved by tables and typo correction. A sentence describing a need is read by a model, which can name an aisle but never an article.
Can my shop have the same engine?
Yes, built on its catalogue, its depots and its customers’ language. We do not resell this demonstration, and the first deliverable is often the journal of your searches with no result, before any line of engine.
How to start
Open the demonstration and type an article the way your customers would: two minutes is enough to see both sides of the counter.
If your online shop leaves customers walking away on “no results”, write to us: together we start by looking at what they search for and what your catalogue answers.
Let’s find where your next customers will come from
Tell us where things stand — your ads, your website, your Google listing — and what you are after. We reply within one working day, and the conversation commits you to nothing.
