How we see you
In paediatrics there are three people in the room: the child, the parents and the doctor. The paediatrician speaks to your child directly as soon as they are old enough to answer, and gives you time to describe what you have noticed at home, a fever, restless nights, an appetite that has changed. The two consulting rooms are on the first floor, in wing B, with a play corner in the waiting area.
At every visit your child is weighed and measured, and their growth charts are updated in their record. Vaccinations are checked against the child health book, and any that are missing from the schedule can be given during the appointment. If a blood test or an X-ray would help, the laboratory and imaging are on the ground floor, with teams used to looking after the very young.
Parents find the summary of each appointment in their child’s patient space, with the growth charts, the vaccinations given and the next appointments. For a follow-up question, a result to talk through or asthma that is already known, a video appointment is often possible, which saves taking a tired child out when the paediatrician judges that an examination is not needed.
People often come for…
A few common reasons, put the way patients put them. They help you find the right door; they say nothing about what you have.
- A fever that will not come down
- Cough or breathing difficulty
- Vaccinations
- Growth check
- Asthma follow-up
- Sports fitness certificate
What we examine and take care of
Every situation is different: the consultation, and only the consultation, decides what comes next.
Growth and development
Weight, height, head circumference in babies, milestones and progress, all plotted on their charts.
Vaccinations
Checking the schedule against the child health book and catching up on any that are missing.
Common illnesses
Fever, cough, ear infections, tummy troubles: a full examination and, if needed, a test on site.
Asthma and allergies
Regular reviews and a written plan for home and school, suited to your child’s age.
Certificates and check-ups
Sports fitness certificates, and check-ups before starting school or going to summer camp.
Tests, on site
The tests this specialty asks for most often are done here, without changing address.

Arrival
At the wing B reception we open your child’s record; a nurse weighs and measures them and takes their temperature.
Your account
The paediatrician asks what brings you in, about your child’s history since birth, their sleep and their feeding.
A gentle examination
Your child can be examined on your lap if they prefer, and the doctor shows them each step before doing it.
After the appointment
Growth charts, vaccinations and next steps are in the summary, which you will find in your child’s patient space.

Looking for appointments…
Fictional character
By teleconsultation
A video follow-up is possible to go through a result, review known asthma or answer a question, if the paediatrician feels it is suitable. A child with a fever, a cough or pain needs to be examined, so that appointment takes place in person.
Common questions
Can both parents come?
Yes, and it often helps, as each of you will have noticed different things. For teenagers, the paediatrician also offers a short time alone with them at the end of the appointment, with the parents’ agreement. Brothers and sisters can wait in the waiting area, where there is a play corner.
Can vaccinations be done at the clinic?
Yes. The paediatrician checks the child health book and gives the vaccinations due on the schedule during the appointment. They are recorded in the book and in your child’s patient space, together with the date of the next booster, which you can look up at any time.
How is a blood test done on a child?
It is done at the ground-floor laboratory by a team used to children. A parent stays close by, we explain to your child what is going to happen, and it is quick. The results are published in the patient space and then talked through with the paediatrician.
Which languages do the doctors speak?
The paediatricians consult in French and Arabic, and some also speak Kabyle or English. You can talk to your child in the language you use at home: the doctor adapts, and the summary is available in French, Arabic or English.
