Cover

Who pays what, plainly

At a private clinic you usually pay at the desk and are partly reimbursed afterwards. Here is how, case by case.

The Chifa card

It shows you are covered by social security. Present it at reception: we prepare the claim form, and the reimbursement is then paid into your account.

CNAS and CASNOS: reimbursement on reference tariffs

The fund does not reimburse the clinic’s price: it reimburses a percentage of its own reference tariff, which is far below private-sector prices. The amount you get back is therefore modest, and it is better to know that beforehand.

Example: a specialist consultation at DZD 3 000. The fund reimburses 80% of its reference tariff of DZD 400, that is DZD 320. You are left with DZD 2 680.

Long-term conditions

For a chronic condition recognised by your fund, cover rises to 100% of the reference tariff. The rest of the clinic’s price remains yours or your complementary plan’s to pay.

Company agreements

If your employer has signed an agreement with the clinic, it pays its share directly: you pay only your own share at the desk, on presenting your proof of cover.

Insurers and mutual funds

Your complementary plan covers a share of what is left after the fund, up to an annual ceiling. Some pay the clinic directly (third-party payment), others reimburse you. The payers below are demonstration examples.
