Scaling
Scaling removes the plaque and tartar that brushing no longer shifts. It is done with ultrasound, in a single session of about thirty minutes, without anaesthetic.
Once a year is the usual advice, twice if you smoke or your gums bleed when you brush. Gums can be tender for two or three days afterwards; that is normal and passes on its own.

Fillings
The decay is cleaned out and filled with a composite matched to the tooth. A simple cavity is done in one session under local anaesthetic, and you can eat two hours later.
Decay that has reached the nerve is not treated this way: it needs a root canal, which takes two sessions.

Root canal
When decay reaches the nerve, the nerve is removed, the canals cleaned and then sealed. This takes two sessions a week apart.
A root-treated tooth grows more brittle over time. A crown is often advised afterwards, though it is not urgent in the months that follow.

Extractions
A simple extraction is done under local anaesthetic and takes about twenty minutes. An impacted wisdom tooth needs longer and sometimes a panoramic X-ray first.
Afterwards: no mouthwash on the first day, no smoking for forty-eight hours, and nothing hot the same day. Light bleeding the first evening is expected.

Crowns
A ceramic crown takes two to three sessions: preparation and impression, then fitting once the piece is back from the laboratory, which takes about two weeks. A temporary crown is fitted in between.

Braces
Orthodontics starts with an assessment, X-rays and impressions. Treatment usually runs between eighteen months and three years depending on the case, with a check every six to eight weeks.
The practice fits fixed braces. Clear aligners are not offered here.
