What the law says
CAT-NAT applies to business premises too

Every commercial or industrial business must insure its property and premises against natural disasters. That cover is in every plan.
The rest is optional, but a landlord, a bank or a client may require liability or fire cover in the lease or the contract.
Loss of income is the cover small traders most often find out about too late: it replaces the margin lost while the business is closed after a claim.
A general summary: it replaces neither the law itself nor the terms of your contract.
Questions
Your questions, answered.
Is my stock covered at its selling price?
No, at its purchase price: what it would cost you to restock. The lost margin falls under loss of income.
How long is loss of income paid for?
Up to twelve months, while you reopen under normal conditions, based on the gross margin you declare.
I rent my premises: what should I insure?
Your contents — furniture, equipment, stock — and your liability to the landlord. The building itself is the landlord’s, unless the lease says otherwise.
Is theft covered at night?
Yes, after a break-in, provided the protections you declared — metal shutter, locks — are fitted and closed.
Can I insure several shops?
Yes, on one contract with an endorsement per site. Your business adviser prepares the quote.
