02The eastern shore of the Bay of Algiers
Living in Bordj El Kiffan
01 The capital’s seaside town
On the eastern side of the bay, the commune stretches along the shore. In summer the promenade and its seafront ice-cream parlours draw all of eastern Algiers; the rest of the year it returns to a residential pace.
02 The tram and the airport
The tram links the neighbourhood to the east of the capital and its business districts; the airport and Bab Ezzouar are close. Heading west, rush hour makes itself felt.
03 What people buy here
Flats in recent residences, older family houses and, more and more, new builds facing the sea. A clear sea view costs extra — and sells well.
04 Before buying by the sea
Salt air wears joinery and façades: look at the windows, the waterproofing and how the building is kept. For lettings, summer demand is strong and winter quieter.
