A private jet can seem a distant luxury, but it works more simply than most people imagine. For a weekend, its main benefit is time: leaving at the hour you choose, avoiding connections, and being home on Sunday evening. This is how such a trip unfolds, taking a weekend in Rome as the example.
You do not own the aircraft; you charter it. The charter company proposes an aircraft suited to the number of passengers and the distance, from a light jet for four to roomier cabins for a family or a group of friends. The price depends mainly on flying time and on positioning the aircraft, and it is set when the request is made.
Departure is from a business aviation terminal, separate from the main passenger building. Police and customs formalities are the same as for a scheduled flight, but they take a few minutes with no queue. Passengers usually arrive shortly before take-off, which transforms the day of departure.
Entry formalities do not change: a private flight to Italy requires the same visa as a scheduled one, and passports are checked on arrival. The rules in force should be checked with the consulate before the flight is confirmed, as for any trip.
On the ground, the weekend is built to measure. A driver waits beside the aircraft, the hotel is chosen for its location, and visits can be arranged at quiet hours, such as the Forum at first light or museums by private visit where possible. Rome suits this rhythm particularly well, at barely two hours’ flying time from Algiers.
Luggage, meals on board and timings are arranged in advance with the crew. You can ask for a halal meal, travel with a pet under the destination’s rules, or push the return back by a few hours if something comes up, subject to the aircraft’s availability and slots.
Our Signature advisers take care of everything: the charter request, the hotel, transfers and the programme on the ground. They present a detailed proposal before any commitment, and remain reachable throughout the weekend.
Visa, health and entry rules change without notice: check them with the consulate or the official portal before you travel.
