Book week: 1,200 books swapped

A market run by ten-year-olds, and a reading for two voices, in Arabic and in French.

The book fair in the arcaded courtyard: pupils leafing through picture books

For a week the library ran a second-hand book market staffed by the 5AP pupils. An Algerian children’s author came to read in Arabic and French, and each class chose the novel it will read together in the third term.

The 5AP pupils sorted, labelled and sold the books families brought in; the takings bought picture books for the pre-school library. It was also a full-size arithmetic lesson, change included.
