Questions
What we are asked most
The answers below are the rules the house applies, written down once.
Booking
How do I book an appointment?
Online at any hour: choose a treatment, a therapist if you have a preference, then a time. You can also ask Lila, our assistant, or call in at reception. Your confirmation arrives straight away by e-mail, with a link to move or cancel.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Only for long or tailored treatments: colour, the full hammam ritual and bridal packages. The amount is shown before you confirm and is paid by CIB or Edahabia card. It comes off your bill on the day.
Can I cancel or move my appointment?
Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before, from the link in your confirmation or your client space; your deposit is then refunded in full. Within 24 hours, or if you do not come, the deposit is kept: it pays for the time your therapist set aside for you.
What if no time suits me?
Join the waiting list for the day you want. As soon as a place opens up we let you know, and we hold it for you for two hours.
What are your opening hours?
Saturday to Thursday, 9 am to 7 pm, and until 8 pm on Thursdays. We are closed on Fridays. During Ramadan and the two days before each Eid the hours change; they are shown on the Contact page and in the booking calendar.
Can we book together, mother and daughter or friends?
Of course. Add a person when you book and we will schedule your treatments at the same time, in neighbouring rooms or side by side in the hammam.
Treatments
Why a patch test before colour?
Because an allergic reaction to hair colour can appear even after years without a problem. We apply a touch of product behind the ear at least 48 hours before your appointment. Without a recent test on record, a colour cannot be booked.
I am pregnant: which treatments can I have?
Let us know when you book. Hair, nails and gentle facials are all fine. A hot hammam, certain essential oils and deep massage are not recommended; your therapist will adapt the treatment and suggest you check with your doctor if in doubt.
How long does the hammam ritual take?
Allow two hours for the full ritual: heat, black soap, a kessa-glove scrub, a ghassoul wrap, then rest with mint tea. Please arrive fifteen minutes early.
What should I bring?
Nothing at all. Robe, fouta, sandals, products and tea are all provided. For the hammam, a spare set of underwear is enough; disposable briefs are also available at reception.
The space
Is the salon for women only?
Yes, entirely. The whole team is female and no man enters the treatment areas, delivery drivers included: parcels are received at reception. You can take off your headscarf in complete peace as soon as you step inside.
Where is Maison Nouara?
In Hydra, in the hills above Algiers. The exact location and parking directions are sent with your booking confirmation.
How are the tools sterilised?
Metal tools are cleaned, then sterilised in an autoclave and kept in sealed pouches that are opened in front of you. Files, kessa gloves and pedicure items are single-use or yours to keep. All linen is washed at 60 °C after every client.
Can I bring my child?
Little girls are welcome from the age of six for a haircut or a gentle manicure. For your peace and other clients’, the hammam and massage rooms are for adults only.
Bridal
Do you come to the bride?
Yes, at home or at the wedding hall, in Algiers and the neighbouring wilayas. The travel fee depends on distance and is shown in your quote before anything is confirmed.
How far ahead should I book?
Ideally three to six months ahead, especially for summer and weekends. The hair and make-up trial takes place four to six weeks before the wedding. Payment is in three parts: on confirmation, one month before, and on the day.
Do you prepare the bride’s family too?
Yes. Bridal packages can include the mother, sisters and close friends. We organise the team so everyone is ready before the bride makes her entrance, from the henna night to the Tesdira.
The shop
Do you deliver across Algeria?
Yes, to all 58 wilayas. Delivery takes one to two days in Algiers and the surrounding wilayas, up to five to eight days in the far south. The fee depends on the zone, and delivery is free on orders from 15,000 DZD.
Can I pay on delivery?
Yes, cash on delivery is offered in every wilaya. You can also pay online by CIB or Edahabia card, or collect your order from the salon.
Can I return a product?
Unopened products can be returned within fourteen days. For hygiene reasons an opened product is only taken back if it is faulty; in that case, write to us with a photo and we will replace it.
Gift cards
How does the gift card work?
Choose an amount or a ritual, a design and a message. The card is sent by e-mail or ready to print. It is valid for a year and can be used over several visits, on treatments and in the shop.
How does the loyalty programme work?
Every treatment and purchase earns points. As you move from Pearl to Jasmine, then Blossom and Amber, you unlock little extras: complimentary tea, a birthday treatment, priority on Thursday-evening slots. Your points are shown in your client space.
Your data
What do you do with my data and photos?
In line with Algerian Law 18-07 on personal data protection, we keep only what serves your treatments: contact details, history, colour formula. No photo is taken or published without your written consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time from your client space.
Can I have my data deleted?
Yes. Ask from your client space or at reception and your data is deleted within thirty days, except for invoices the law requires us to keep. The photo beauty analysis never keeps the image: only the written report is saved, and only if you choose.
